Concern has been expressed over the future of rural transport. That's after Dublin's Metrolink, which will connect Dublin Airport to the city got the go ahead. An Coimisiún Pleanála has approved the Railway Order application for the project.
It's felt that money would be best spent in areas such as local link and other transport initiatives across the region. Longford Cllr Mark Casey says while the move is welcome, he fears the knock-on effect will be felt locally:
