One of Anthony Waldron's right-hand men is backing Gail Murray to fill his seat on Roscommon County Council, after he died two months ago. The Waldron family yesterday announced it wants Ballintubber man Michael Holland Senior to replace him.
Murray and former politician Eugene Murphy are also in the race - and Roscommon councillors will have the final say next month. Waldron's close friend, Joe Malone, says Ballintubber woman Gail Murray is the best candidate:
