Cllr Domnick Connolly says he’s delighted to become the new Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council.
He replaced fellow Fine Gael Cllr Liam Callaghan as Cathaoirleach at this afternoon’s AGM.
First elected in 1991, Domnick Connolly made a return to politics in the last local elections, claiming the last seat in the Athlone LEA.
He was elected as the new Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council at Aras an Chontae this afternoon.
He was proposed for the position by Fine Gael Cllr Valerie Duffy and it was seconded by Cllr Ruth Conboy.
Cllr Connolly expressed his delight at being the new first citizen of Roscommon during a speech at today’s meeting.
Independent Cllr Laurence Fallon has been elected as the new Leas Cathaoirleach of the council.
