Local MEP Ciaran Mullooly has been elected as a full voting member of the EU Agri Committee.
The vote saw 41 out of 67 MEPs backing his appointment.
The Agriculture Committee deals with key decisions affecting Irish farming, including CAP, farm incomes and rural development.
