Case of bird flu reported in Roscommon

There has been a number of cases in the country.

People across the region are being urged not to touch wild birds that might be infected with avian flu.

The Department of Agriculture has highlighted a number of cases of the bird flu in whooper swans and white tailed sea eagles in the country.

A pelegrine falcon in Roscommon has also been identified as having the virus, with a second in Portumna also affected.

Niall Hatch from Birdwatch Ireland says it's not unusual for birds to contract the virus at this time of year.
