It's felt a high-visibility policing operation could be rolled out locally.
The policing plan, which was introduced last year in Dublin, involved more uniformed gardaí on the beat in areas identified as having high rates of offending.
It is now planned to roll out the units in Limerick, Galway and Waterford as well as Dundalk and Athlone.
Recently, it emerged of the 194 Gardaí sworn into service, none was allocated to Roscommon-Longford.
Ballaghaderreen-based Cllr Micheál Frain says there needs to a plan for the region:
