The need for a seventh radiologist at Portiuncula University Hospital has been identified. Calls were made at last week's regional health forum west meeting for increased interventional radiological services at the facility. This allows specially-trained doctors to treat patients using tiny instruments guided by advanced imaging.
While the HSE confirmed there are no defined plans for an expanded service, the identification was noted. Member of the forum and local Cllr Evelyn Parsons feels its important to provide appropriate settings:
