Bus Éireann has issued a statement following confirmation that two local stops have been removed it's Expressway service between Sligo and Dublin Airport.
The service, which operates without state funding, currently stops in Dromod and Roosky on only two of its 12 daily trips.
However, earlier this week, it was confirmed that "low demand stops" such as Dromod and Roosky will no longer be served "to improve journey times" from August 24th.
According to the provider, the decision is due to "a consistently low usage of the service over a long period, which has made it commercially unsustainable."
The statement continues by saying their focus remains on "delivering consistent Expressway routes, which connect communities with major towns, cities and airports where there is a critical mass of population is a necessary requirement."
They say the revised timetable features "a simplified timetable structure, with separate schedules for weekdays and weekends/public holidays."
In conclusion, Bus Éireann say it will continue to operate a Saturday only public service contract service between Sligo and Longford, which serves Dromod and Roosky.
