Books of condolence open locally for Creeslough victims

Today marks one week since the tragedy took place.

A number of local authorities across the Shannonside region have opened books of condolence in memory of those who lost their lives in the Creeslough explosion.

A book has now opened at Athlone Civic Centre while Longford County Council has made a available a virtual book through their website.

In Leitrim, the Irish flag is flying at half mast at Áras an Chontae in Carrick-on-Shannon as a mark of respect for the ten victims.

Meanwhile, a silent candlelight vigil will be held on Saturday at 8pm in St Michael's Square in Ballinasloe to stand in solidarity with the community of Creeslough.
