The closure of one side of The Square in Ballaghderreen is a line in the sand for local protestors.
The Ballaghaderreen Public Realm works continue to be a source of contention among locals and business owners with numerous protests having taken place in recent weeks.
Locals are unhappy with the removal of on street car parking spaces along with the plans for the traffic around the town square.
Roscommon County Council is offering to keep eight car parking spaces in Ballaghaderreen town centre - in an effort to solve the issue.
As part of the plans the local authority says they will improve access, lighting, security and signage for the nearby 72-space Plots carpark.
The council also says it will develop a 50-space car park in the Plots, 60 metres from the town centre.
The 4.5 million euro plan is around 40 per cent complete.
Roscommon County Council is appealing to the local community to support the works and avoid what they say will be unnecessary and costly delays to the construction programme.
Local businessman Brian Mulligan says the offer of 8 spaces is nothing new and they will not let the plan go through in it's current form:
