Athlone Gardaí are warning people to be aware of a scam involving a text pretending to be from Bank of Ireland.
Gardai are warning that the text, which suggests someone's Visa Debit Card has been used without their knowledge and asks them to click a clink to a fraudulent website, has been reported several times in the last few days.
The Fraud Section Bank of Ireland has confirmed the text is not legitimate and several reports of the text have been made to them.

Gardai are reminding people to be very careful with their personal baking details and not to share them with strangers.
