Athlone councillor Aengus O’Rourke is running in the Seanad elections next month.
He has received two nominations from so-called ‘outside’ bodies, ahead of tomorrow’s deadline.
He says he’ll confirm tomorrow which panel he’s running on.

His late mother, Mary O’Rourke, was the leader of the Seanad during her successful political career.
And Councillor O’Rourke says he would also like the opportunity to become a senator.
