New renewable energy infrastructure installed at the Athlone Bus Station depot will be used to expand zero emission public transport throughout the region.
That's according to Minister of transport Eamon Ryan who launched the countries first all electric town bus fleet in Athlone this week.
The Athlone bus depot has undergone significant upgrade works over the last year, to maintain, charge and repair the vehicles.

That infrastructure along with local staff trained in its use will be a key factor in expanding the service according to the Minister:
