Almost 60 admitted patients were on trolleys in local hospitals this morning. There were 30 waiting at Sligo University Hospital, with 23 and 6 in Portiuncula and Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar respectively.
University Hospital Limerick accounted for the largest number of those, with 70 followed by Cork University Hospital with 43 and University Hospital Galway with 36. Of the total number of people waiting for beds, 296 were in emergency departments while 121 were in wards elsewhere, according to the INMO.
