Almost 2,400 farmers in the Shannonside region have applied for the fuel support scheme - which was introduced after massive fuel protests.

This 100 million euro scheme was announced after major fuel protests in April.
It's a targeted income support to assist farmers and agricultural and forestry contractors facing unprecedented increases in fuel costs.
It applies for five months, from this March to July, and is based on previous use of green diesel.
Agriculture Minister Martin Heydon says over 32,000 farmers have applied so far - including 611 in Leitrim, 605 in Longford and 1,153 in Roscommon.
He says the rates of payment have not yet been finalised as processing of applications is still ongoing.
It's understood the average payment per farmer will be around 650 euro.
