Athlone Councillor Aengus O'Rourke has been elected new the chair of Westmeath County Council.
The Fianna representative succeeds Frankie Keena as Cathaoirleach in the local authority.
The Athlone town businessman takes up the role 70 years after his grandfather, PJ Lenihan held the same position in local politics.
