A total of 75 people in the Shannonside region under the age of 65 are living in nursing homes.
It includes 18 in Roscommon, 34 in Longford and Westmeath, and 23 in Sligo, Leitrim and west Cavan.
According to freedom of information figures, there are a total of 1,253 people under the age of 65 living in nursing homes around the country.

Ballygar GP Martin Daly says there are many reasons why these people aren’t living in their own homes.
