The Tánaiste officially opened the new Roscommon Civil Defence headquarters over the weekend. The state of the art facility is located outside of Roscommon Town and cost over 3 million euro. The purpose built hub was designed by Collins Boyd Engineering and features a double height vehicle bay and an external Boat storage shed.
It's planned that the new hub will also be used for training new and existing volunteers. Roscommon Civil Defence under Claire Keane is one of the busiest units in the country and was heavily active in the region following Storm Eowyn. Our reporter Daniel Considine was at the opening and sent us this report.
