The establishment of a Family Resource Centre in Longford Town could be 'a lighthouse on stormy waters' for many local families.
Its steering committee have launched a Needs Assessment Report, which highlighted the urgent need for a centre in the town.
The launch heard Longford Town has one of the highest levels of deprivation in the country, with a large number of child-protection referrals.
A decision on the application which had been submitted to Tusla is currently pending, with a verdict expected by October.
