Colin Dalton has regained his seat on Longford County Council following a Fine Gael Convention in North Longford last night.
Cllr Dalton took the seat of Paraic Brady who was voted into the Seanad in January, following a close vote in Aughnacliffe Community Centre that saw almost to 200 delegates attend.
The Ballinalee man lost his seat in June in the 2024 local election by 4 votes to Fianna Fail's David Cassidy.
The party convention was contested by Councillor Dalton, Senator Paraic Brady's brother Cian Brady and Granard's Kathleen McGahern.
Daniel Considine was there for Shannonside FM News.
