This year, Citizens Information Services mark 50 years since its first 25 centres were officially registered on July 8th 1975. 50 years on, the network now operates from more than 90 locations nationwide, including centres in Roscommon, Longford, Leitrim and Westmeath. Last year alone, Citizens Information Centres handled over 760,000 queries.
To mark this important milestone, Dan Dooner was joined in studio this week by Delores Tiernan from Leitrim Citizens Information, Mary Murtagh from the Longford office and Richard Regan from the Roscommon centre. In the first of a two-part interview, Delores started by highlighting just how far the service has come:
