Leaving Cert students in Longford were given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ask a prescribed poet about her work and creative process.
Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, Tracy K. Smith, visited Meán Scoil Mhuire this afternoon.
The American writer is one of a number of writers featuring on the Leaving Cert English paper this year, and is the only living poet on the Higher Level syllabus.
She served as the 22nd Poet Laureate of the United States and currently teaches at Harvard University.
