Seamus Carthy died on Monday, 2nd February, suddenly in Manchester, England.

Beloved husband of Brenda, much loved father of Kieran, Kathleen & Colleen and adored grandad of Charlie, Finley, Gracie, Aoife & Fiadh.

Seamus will be sadly missed by his sorrowing wife and family, sisters Margaret & Mary, brothers Matt, Brian, Gerard & Eamon, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, relatives, neighbours and many friends both in England & Ireland.

Seamus is predeceased by his parent's Brian & Susan, his sisters baby Bridget, Rosie, Pattie & Bernadette and by his brother baby Tim.

Reposing at McHugh's Funeral Home, Strokestown (F42 RK72), on Sunday, February 22nd, from 4.30pm until 6pm, followed by Removal to St. Mary's Church, Carniska, to arrive for 6.30pm. Funeral Mass on Monday, February 23rd, at 11am. Burial afterwards in Lisonuffy Cemetery.

Our Deepest Sympathies to all The Carty Family on the Untimely Death of your beloved Brother /Dad /Grandad. Seamus was a Great Man For the Craic. Thoughts and Prayers are with you all at this difficult Time. Always Remember yeah we’re all Part of a well Lived Life. Rest In Peace Seamus. Peter &Philomena. Enfield London.

I am so sorry that I cannot be there in person today. Some years ago, while visiting Manchester, he went to my mother’s grave. Without being asked, he cleaned and cared for it, sowed grass seeds, put a beautiful stone border around it, and refused to take a penny for his work. That was the measure of the man. He simply thought that much of her. Tomorrow he will be laid to rest above her. It feels fitting. He showed such respect and kindness to her in life, and now they will share the same resting place. May he rest in peace, and may the kindness he showed return to him a hundredfold. 😘
