Maureen Beirne (née Beattie)

Corbooley, Knockcroghery, Co. Roscommon.

Maureen Beirne (née Beattie) died peacefully on Friday, November 28th, 2025, in her 96th year, in the wonderful, devoted care of the staff at The Roscommon Hospice and surrounded by her loving family.

Pre-deceased by her beloved husband, Pake; granddaughter, Sinéad; daughter-in-law, Irene; parents, Michael and Elizabeth; brothers, Mattie and Edward John; and sisters, Peggy Byrne and Bridie Keane.

Forever missed by her sons, Paddy, Michael and John; daughters, Mary and Margaret. Remembered by her sister, Katleen Tully; sister-in-law, Teresa; daughters-in-law, Pauline and Patricia; and son-in-law, Pat McNamara. Adored by her 19 grandchidlren and 21 great-grandchildren. Deeply regretted by her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many good friends.

Reposing at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon (F42 NH27), on Saturday from 4 o’clock until 6 o’clock. Removal from her home on Monday morning at 10.30 o’clock, arriving at St Patrick’s Church, Knockcroghery, for Mass of the Resurrection at 11 o’clock. Burial afterwards in Gailey Cemetery. Family flowers only, please.

The Beirne family would sincerely like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses who helped care for Maureen, especially in The Roscommon Hospice and Roscommon University Hospital. They would also like to acknowledge their friends and neighbours for their kindness at this time.
