Express your Sympathy

Patrick Smyth

Drumdarton, Aughnasheelin, Co. Leitrim and London, England.

Patrick Smyth died on 12 December 2025.

A Life Remembered

Patrick Smyth was born on 2 January 1953 in Aughnasheelin, County Leitrim, one of the youngest of nine children of Francie and Margaret Smyth of Drumdarton. Raised in a home rich in faith, family, humour, and closeness, Patrick carried the spirit of Leitrim with him wherever life took him.

A fluent Irish speaker, Patrick loved learning, sport, and hard work. At sixteen, he travelled to England to study, where he went on to work in construction across the country. He was deeply proud of his Irish roots, the friendships he formed, and the community he helped build among the London Irish.

Patrick shared forty-six devoted years with his beloved Imelda, whom he met at a dance in London. He was a gentle and loving father to Patrice and Francie, and a doting grandfather to Callum and Tommy who took great joy in his grandchildren.

Patrick is reunited in eternal rest with his parents, brothers and sisters, John, Jimmy, Mary, and Liz; and nephew, Gerard. Deeply missed by his loving siblings, Margaret, Celia, Bridie, and Gerry; nieces, nephews and by all who were blessed to know him.

A true gentleman in every sense, Patrick leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, laughter, and love — a life well lived and well shared.
