Lucy Gibbons (née Rhatigan) passed away on Tuesday, 9th September 2025. Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the devoted care of the staff at the Roscommon Hospice.
Predeceased by her brother william and sisters Bridie, Margaret, Kathleen and Betty.
Beloved wife of the late Bertie and much loved mother to Joe, John, Paul, Raymond and Aidan. Forever missed by her sons, daughters-in-law Patti, Chrissie, Deirdre and Helen, Paul’s partner Joan, grandchildren Conor, Chloe, Thomas, Martina, Caitlin, Liam, Ava Morgan and Pearse, great-grandchildren Arlo and Sienna, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and many good friends.
May Lucy rest in peace.
Reposing at Smyth’s Funeral Home, Roscommon (F42 NH27) on Friday evening from 4.30 o’c until 6.30 o’c followed by removal to St Mary’s Church, Ballagh. Mass of the Resurrection on Saturday at 12 noon. Burial afterwards in Kilgefin Cemetery.
The Gibbons family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Roscommon University Hospital and also The Roscommon Hospice for the kindness and compassion shown to them and especially to Lucy during her time in their care. They would also like to acknowledge their wonderful neighbours and friends, especially Florence, at this time.
