Rapid Response Roscommon appealing to people to contribute to their defibrillator survey

Rapid Response Roscommon is appealing to people to contribute to their defibrillator survey.

The group is working with the website ‘townsapp.ie’ to create an app that will identify the nearest defibrillator and alert the nearest defib-operator if an emergency occurs.

Over summer, Rapid Response held a number of meetings across the county to encourage people to contribute to their data base.

The group wants to increase increase the survival rates of people who suffer a cardiac arrest ten fold – from 5% survival to 10%.

John McDermott, of Rapid Response, says if communities support the project they can save 250 lives a year.
