Carrick on Shannon author showcases WW1 documentary tonight

A documentary telling the story of unionists and nationalists fighting on the same side in World War 1 is to be shown in Carrick on Shannon tonight.

Carrick native and Irish Times Journalist and Videographer Ronan McGreevy has produced the feature on the co-operation between the 36th (Ulster) Division which was drawn from the Ulster Volunteer forcem and the 16th (Irish) Division, at the Battle of Messines Ridge in June 1916.

Ronan will present his work at the Carrick-on-Shannon & District Historical Society’s monthly lecture on in the Bush hotel at 8.30pm.


He told today’s Let’s Talk about the devastating loss of life, including some very local stories.
