The PDC World Darts Championship semi-finals take place at the Alexandra Palace in London tonight with proceedings getting under way shortly after 7pm.
Three of the top four seeds have reached the last four with number four seed, sixteen time World Champion Phil Taylor the one to miss out, after his 5-3 defeat to five time World Champion and number 12 seed Raymond Van Barneveld in the quarter-finals.
First up is an all-Scottish meeting of the number 3 seed Peter Wright and reigning champion and number one seed Gary Anderson. Anderson is bidding for a hat-trick of World titles as he also won the World Championship title in 2015. Anderson defeated number seven seed Dave Chisnall 5-3 in an amazing high quality quarter-final that produced 33 maximums, but 21 of those were from the loser Chisnall. Wright won his quarter-final against number 6 seed James Wade also on a 5-3 score-line.
After the all-Scottish clash, the all-Dutch semi-final between Raymond van Barneveld and Michael van Gerwen will decide the other finalist. Barneveld as already mentioned defeated Phil Taylor in his last eight encounter, while 2014 World Champion Van Gerwen eased through his quarter-final with a crushing 5-1 triumph over Irish man Daryl Gurney to book his place in the last four.
