Roscommon win while Longford beaten in Lidl national ladies football league

Roscommon overcame Offaly by 5-14 to eight points in division three of the Lidl national football league.

Wexford got the better of Longford by 3-10 to 2-5 in McGann Park,while Meath had a comprehensive win over Down in the division also.

Elsewhere goals from Bríd and Áine O’Sullivan eased champions Cork to an opening day  division one victory over Munster rivals Kerry in Knocknagoshel.


Also in division one there were victories for TG4 All-Ireland senior champions Dublin,  runners-up Mayo and Connacht title holders Galway.

In division 2, two Orla O’Dwyer’s goals helped visitors Tipperary claim a notable 2-12 to 2-10 victory over Armagh. Clare, Cavan and Tyrone also claimed opening day victories in the second tier.

There were wins for Antrim, Louth and Wicklow in Division 4 as Carlow and Limerick shared the spoils.
