Westmeath are the Allianz hurling league division 2A champions after a 12 points to ten win over Kerry in Cusack Park in Ennis.
The Lake county will play division one hurling next year. It’s been 33 years since the county were last in the top division.
Westmeath played against a strong wind in the first-half and were trailing nine points to four.
The Leinster side fought back in the second half and Killian Doyle scored six points including four from play to help them to a two points win.
Joe Quaid’s side won the Kehoe Cup and then went through the league unbeaten and next up for them is the Joe McDonagh Cup.
Offaly will play division 2A hurling in their place next year after losing 2-14 to 1-16 to Carlow.
