Buccaneers Set For Ballymena Battle

Buccaneers welcome Ballymena to Dubarry Park on Saturday in the All-Ireland league.

Both times occupy the bottom two spots in the league after eight games.

After five defeats, Ballymena are in a rich vein of form with three wins in a row.

Buccaneers were defeated by one point by Old Belvedere last weekend.

Ballymena have a highly experienced pack that includes Clive Ross, John Andrew and the Rea brothers Matthew and Marcus who have all featured for Ulster.

Lock Connor Smyth is their leading try scorer this season while versatile back Tim Small has accumulated most of their points from placekicks.

Buccs have been somewhat unfortunate in this campaign; a drop goal attempt fractionally wide allayed to a glut of absentees.

Head coach of the Athlone Club is Peter O’Donnell and he’s been talking to Kevin McDermott about their upcoming fixture list and their loss to Old Belvedere
