Prior to the suspension of all handball activities due to the Coronavirus two county doubles finals were held in St. Coman’s.
The Junior ‘B’ decider between Colm Walsh and Dylan Hanley of St. Coman’s and Curraghboy’s John & Brian Healy saw the talented duo from the town forced to work very hard in the first game before finishing it 21-13.
The second followed the pre-match script as the St. Coman’s pair ran out comfortable 21-6 winners.
The Junior ‘C’ final was a battle of youth versus experience as the young pairing of Brian Mannion and Sean Rafferty took on the much older Tom Killion and Fergal Timmons. This was expected to be a very close contest but youth was served with Brian and Sean winning quite comfortably 21-9, 21-8.
40×20 County Juvenile ‘B’
There were two good matchups in the County Juvenile ‘B’ championships. Lisacul’s Sean Corrigan was an impressive winner of the U12 grade when he overcame St. Coman’s Cormac Naughton in a tough battle.
The ever-improving left-hander won 15-4, 15-4.
The U11 grade also had an impressive winner when St. Coman’s Seamie Carthy overcame the talented John Reilly from Lisacul 15-4, 15-1.
In spite of the scoreline this was a very entertaining match between two young players to watch.
