Roscommon exited the Conancht Under-20 Championship after a 17 points to 1-07 defeat to Galway at the semi-final stage.
Galway led 11 points to 1-03 at half-time. Galway raced into a three point lead after nine minutes before Aaron Brady opened the scoring for Roscommon.
Tulsk wing-back Gerry Galvin scored a goal for the home side with the Galway goalkeeper losing sight of the ball in the sun in the 12th minute.
Galway recovered and kicked the next four points in a row. Paul Carey kicked a free for Roscommon in the 24th minute. Galway outscored Roscommon four points to one for the remainder of the half.
Galway got the opening score in the eight minute of the second half but then came Roscommon’s purple patch with three points in a row and cutting the lead down to three with thirteen minutes remaining.
Galway put their advantage back to six points when the game entered injury-time. Roscommon were awarded a penalty but Brian Derwin’s effort went over the bar. Galway scored the final two points to get a seven points win.
Galway play Mayo in the Connacht final next Wednesday evening in Tuam.
