Shane Curran praised his Roscommon players after their exit from the 2019 Connacht under-20 football championship on Wednesday night.
Galway progressed to the Connacht under-20 final after a 17 points to 1-7 defeat in Kiltoom, having the deficit to three points with 13 minutes remaining.
“We were in with a fighting chance, right to the 60th minute” admitted Curran. “We would have been within a kick of a ball and that’s all I can ask of my players.”
“We just couldn’t get those little scores which were needed at the right time” explained Curran.
“I’m very proud of the lads we knew coming here tonight” added Curran. “It was going to be a huge, huge assignment against a team who are many people’s favourites for the All-Ireland.
“We played with six players on the pitch who were 15 or 16, when we have that player development where you’re hoping the players can step up.”
“I would have to say Galway were the better team and I had that realisation during the first half” added Curran.
“I’m Very proud of my own lads, they’re all young fellas and there learning about realisation” of where they have to work to”.
