Michael Glaveys Win Connacht Intermediate Football Title

Michael Glaveys landed the Roscommon Intermediate football championship with a nine point victory over ClareGalway.


The game’s opening goal came in the 15th minute as the Claregalway goalkeeper steered the ball home for an own goal.

Stephen Comer slotted over three first half points including one free as Andy Glennon added four points including a free for Michael Glavey’s to lead 1-7 to five points at the break.

Caoileann Fizmaurice found the net after 40 seconds of the second half as Glavey’s etched into an eight point lead.

Glavey worked into an eight point lead 2-12 to 10 points before Mark Rohan smashed home a goal after 52 minutes to bring ClareGalway right back into the game.

With Andy Glennon adding three second half points, Glaveys led by five points before captain Conor Hussey grabbed his side’s third goal in the final moment of the game.

Michael Glaveys will now meet the Leinster intermediate champions on the weekend of January 21st 2018 in the All-Ireland intermediate semi-final.
