Republic of Ireland women’s goalkeeper Marie Hourihan has completed her transfer to Portuguese club SC Braga from Brighton & Hove Albion.
“I watched a game here, and the whole atmosphere at the club, the way the community embraces the team” explained 31-year-old Hourihan.
“The setup of the team had, I was so impressed it made my mind up and I really wanted to come here” added Hourihan whose mother hails from Roscommon.
Hourihan played for the Seagulls for 18 months having first joined them on a loan spell from Manchester City in January 2018, with the move made permanent the following summer.
Previously she played for Watford, Fulham, Spartans, Doncaster, Birmingham City, and Chelsea, thus having her first spell outside the UK.
Hourihan has eight senior caps for the Republic of Ireland women’s team begin first choice goalkeeper for the 2019 World Cup Qualifying campaign.
