Last minute Smith penalty saves Rossies

Roscommon 2-12

Meath 2-12

A last gasp Donnie Smith penalty saved Roscommon from opening day division two defeat to Meath in Dr. Hyde Park.

Kevin McStay’s side looked to be well on their way to victory with 20 minutes remaining as they led by five points, 1-11 to 1-6.

However the Royals showed the history of their 1980’s team as they hit 1-6 without reply, before a late Finbarr Cregg free and Smith’s penalty saved the day for Roscommon.
