Michael Egan (St. Coman’s) had two comfortable wins in the 60×30 Junior ‘B’ Connacht championship in the last week.
On Wednesday, in St. Coman’s Michael beat Mayo’s Shane Scott 21-3, 21-5 and although Scott tried hard Egan had things all his own way from start to finish.
On Friday Michael travelled to Collooney, Co. Sligo to face local lad Martin Brannigan and once again had a very easy victory, never getting out of second gear winning 21-1, 21-3.
Egan now faces Galway’s Jamie Kelly in the Connacht final this weekend in what promises to be a much tougher encounter.
Lisacul’s Denis Creaton seemed to be well on his way to a good win against Mayo’s Patrick Murphy in their 60×30 Junior Connacht quarter-final last Wednesday, when he led 20-13 in the first game.
However, for some reason he struggled to put away a lethargic looking Murphy despite a number of game balls and to Murphy’s credit he spotted his opportunity and came back from the dead to take the first 21-20.
Murphy played the second like a new man and killed some great balls on his way to a surprisingly easy 21-6 win.
