Carty Inspires Connacht to European Qualification

Roscommon’s Jack Carty starred for Connacht in their victory over Cardiff to ensure Champions Cup Rugby next season.

A sold-out Sportsground saw Connacht enjoy a 29-22 victory over their Welsh opponents.

Tries from Caolin Blade, Gavin Thornbury, Matt Healy and two from Jack Carty got them a European place and a spot in the Pro14 play offs.

Connacht have a Guinness Pro14 quarter-final away to Ulster.

All four Irish provinces will be in both the end-of-season playoffs and next season’s Heineken Champions Cup.

Leinster, who were already through to a home semi final, were beaten 39-24 by Glasgow at the RDS.
