There was disappointment for Castlerea’s Aoife O’Rourke in her middleweight quarter-final bout at the European Games losing out to Great Britain’s Lauren Price.
Price was in control from the off, dominating the pace from the early stages and denying O’Rourke the opportunity to assert her game plan.
O’Rourke rallied well, pulling off some clean punches, though Price continued to maintain control of the bout and ran out winner on a unanimous decision from all five judges.
While Killie Harrington, Michaela Walsh, Grainne Walsh and Kurt Walker all secured at least bronze medals guarantying the medal tally for Ireland to six at the European Games in Minsk.
Badminton and canoeing also saw success with Nhat Nguyen securing a pass to the round of 16 and Joshua Magee and Paul Reynolds winning their match.
In canoeing Jenny Egan qualified to the B Finals of the Women’s K1 200, and Ronan Foley clocked a personal best in his Men’s K1 200 semi-final.
