Roscommon had two good wins in the 60×30 Connacht championship in Castlebar last Sunday writes Aengus Cuningham.
St. Coman’s Michael Egan played some fine handball in an easier than expected win over Galway’s Jamie Kelly.
Despite having had minimal preparation Michael’s natural ability and big alley style made life very uncomfortable for Kelly, whose lack of fitness took its toll as he was run all over the court.
When Michael started reeling out the kills the writing was on the wall and he ran out a 21-9, 21-9 winner.
Immediately afterwards, Michael’s club-mate Glenn Walshe had an equally impressive win in the Over 35 ‘B’ Connacht final.
Playing Sligo’s Kevin Meehan in what was also expected to be a tough battle, Walshe took control from the off and was never troubled throughout, his powerful round the walls strokes and left corner killing gave him an easy 21-6, 21-6 win.
