This Saturday see’s Longford Town make the long trip down to Cobh where they will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointing defeat to Shelbourne at The City Calling Stadium.
It will be a testing game for The Town against a Ramblers side who sit second in the First Division nine points off leaders Waterford (Cobh had a 2-0 win over Wexford the last day out).
Ahead of the game Shannonsides Sports Editor John Lynch spoke to Longford Town manager Neale Fenn who spoke about how his team has recovered since last weekend
“Training has been good this week and we’ve got to work on a couple of different things”
“All focus has been on this game on Saturday”
During that game Longford picked up two injuries which could be a worry for Saturday’s game.
“We’re waiting to see on the boys (Noel Haverty and Kevin O’Connor) both haven’t trained this week as they’ve been struggling through the week so it’s touch and go to see how they are for Saturday”
It was confirmed this week that Longford have brought in Alan Keogh from Bray. Keogh is a left sided player with good versatility up and down the left flank.
“It’s nice to have a few fresh faces especially when you’re hit by injury and suspensions and we have Davy Sullivan coming back to full fitness which is great for us”
With an FAI Cup clash against Sligo Rovers nearing there is a chance for some players to stamp down a starting positon but no doubt all attention is on giving the performance needed this weekend to get a result.
Kick off on Saturday at St.Colemans is 7:45pm
