New Longford taking it a game at a time

Robbie Smyth explained that the “new Longford” is starting to shine through ahead of the Bord Na Mona O’Byrne Cup semi-final.

Smyth scored Longford’s goal as they overcame Kildare 1-14 to 13 points to secure their spot in the O’Byrne Cup semi-final, having won group two.

“We’ve a new backroom team and management” explained Smyth. “There’s a big push going to try and get a new Longford going.”

The new Longford has gotten off to a super start having beaten Kildare 2-9 to 1-10 and then followed it up with a four point win over Kildare.

“Two wins in the O’Byrne Cup and off to Pairc Tailteann to go off and play Meath in the semi-final” added Smyth. “We’re just going to take that game as it comes.”

“It’s a bonus game for us, so we can just look forward to it and enjoy it.”

The Bord Na Mona O’Byrne Cup semi-final between Longford and Meath is live on Shannonside FM from 2pm on Sunday Sport.
