McPhillips Wins Big In New York

Cian McPhillips scored the most prestigious victory of his career with victory in the New Balance Boys mile at the Millrose Games in New York.

McPhillips sped to victory in four minutes 10.95, nearly two seconds clear of Gavin Sherry from Connecticut. McPhillips was the only non-American in the field.

The New Balance Boys Mile brought together the best senior high school mile boys runners in the USA with Longford man McPhillips powering to victory.

McPhillips clocked three minutes 55.80 seconds for the 1500 metre marker held within the mile race.

The Milrose Games is one of the major indoor athletics events in the World and is organised by the great Longford Olympian Ray Flynn.
