Longford Start League With Louth Win

Longford got their division three league campaign off to a winning start with a 1-08 to nine points win over Louth.

Longford led 1-03 to three points at half time but Louth were level with a minute of normal time remaining.


Substitutes Darragh Doherty and Nigel Rabbitt, scored the last two points of the game to claim the win for Longford

Louth ended the game with 13 men. Conor Early was sent off on 20 minutes, picking up a second black card.

Tommy Durnin was dismissed for a second yellow on the 54th minute.

It was the first league game in charge for Longford manager Pauric Davis. It was a big away win for the county considering their Mullinalaghta contingent are missing from the panel at the moment.

Offaly face Longford next weekend in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

Elsewhere in division three, Westmeath overcame Offaly 13 points to 12. Jack Cooney’s side trailed by eight points after 43 minutes before mounting the impressive comeback.

Carlow were 1-11 to 0-07 winners over Sligo and Laois began their Allianz League Division 3 campaign with a 2-15 to 1-12 win over Down.
