Longford RFC full of confidence

After beating Tullamore in the first round of The Towns Cup Longford RFC head into round two with plenty of confidence.

Shannonsides John Lynch spoke to Longford RFC member Anthon Gylnn who understands the draw for the next round has paired them against Clondalkin.

“They are a division ahead of us and we have a history of very close games with Clondalkin and it will be another hum dinger of a game”

Despite the Dublin side being higher opposition Anthon feels an upset could be on the cards

“We have a young side and we have absolutely no fear”

The team have every right to feel confident as their league form suggest. They sit top of the table with a five point advantage and Anthon talks about the balance of the team between young and old

“That’s the key to it this gelling of the young and the old and the enjoyment and respect each have for each other”

Although they find themselves ahead in the league there is two games remaining which are against their nearest competitors Cill Dara at home followed by an away trip to Carlow so still a lot to play for in the league

“Our run in is extremely difficult”

A big few weeks ahead for the team and no doubt every game will be treated as a knockout game from her till the end of the season.
