Longford Progress to O’Byrne Cup Semi-Final

Longford progressed to a second Bord Na Mona O’Byrne Cup semi-final after a 1-16 to 1-16 draw with Louth in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

Longford will face either Kildare or Westmeath, who play on Sunday in Mullingar, the semi-final is scheduled for Sunday December 13th.

Louth trailed by six points in the second half and pushed ahead near the end. Longford’s Robbie Smyth and Louth’s Ross Nally exchanged late points before Declan Byrne equalised for the visitors.

This was a good result for new Longford boss Padraic Davis, who is operating without his eight Mullinalaghta players and injured players such as Conor Berry, Padraic and Sean McCormack, Ronan McIntyre.
