Longford Minors Win Seamus Heaney Cup Final

Longford won the Leinster Minor Shield Title with an impressive 3-15 to 2-05 win over Wexford in Portlaoise.

Kealan McGann scored a brace of goals for Longford while the Midlanders third goal came though Ronan Sheahan.

Longford started brilliantly going into a five points to no score lead. Wexford got a goal in the ninth minute but Longford marched into the half-time break with a 1-09 to 1-03 lead.

Wexford scored a penalty in the second half but couldn’t get near McElligot/O’Rourke’s side as Longford came away with a 13 points lead and victory in the inaugural Seamus Heaney Cup final.
