Longford recorded their first win of the Leinster minor championship with a 1-8 to nine point win over Carlow.
Jack Duggan’s 19th minute goal being the difference for the Longford men, who exchanged scores with Carlow, both sides having sent over two points each at that stage.
Longford led at half-time by one point, 1-2 to four points. Carlow levelled in the second minute of the second half.
A Jack Duggan free restored Longford’s lead before Carlow levelled up almost immediately.
Two further points from Duggan plus a 45 along with points from Kevin Tansey and Keelin McCann saw Longford to a two point win.
Elsewhere Laois scored a 3-6 (15) to 1-11 (14) win over Westmeath in O’Moore Park.
The result see’s Laois top the table with one round remaining. Laois have three points while Westmeath sit second with two points on head to head with Longford.
